EDITING STYLES

I work to a very clear synergy of light, sound, and pacing — and admire and appreciate directors and editors who have a very clear beat to their work. Whether we're talking the style of Baz Luhrman, Edgar Wright, Julie Taymore, or the Coen Brothers, making the cut at exactly the right frame, with no tolerance for even 1/24 of a second in error or imperfection, is paramount. Comedic timing, music, drama, suspense — it all hinges on telling your story exactly the right way, and always leaving your audiences waiting with bated breath for the next shot.

PROGRAMS USED

Editing is done in Premiere Pro CC, Davinci Resolve 16, and Final Cut X; though other programs are equally viable.  Color work is done in Davinci Resolve, MLRawViewer, Adobe Lightroom, and Lumetri Pro. Finishing work is generally done in Adobe After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder, though Apple Motion and Compressor can be used if that better fits your workflow, or if you are using entirely Apple systems.
Uploading can be done to YouTube, Vimeo, or any number of online services — or compressed to Blu-Ray, DVD, or anything you desire.

COLOR GRADING

This is an aspect of film that, along with good sound design, often seems to be thrown out in the indie scene in the interest of expediency and budget. Still, make no mistake—it is still an incredibly vital part of compelling content (ESPECIALLY in the advertising space), and one that shouldn't be overlooked for any reason. Having a good and consistent vision for the colors in one's piece and the interaction between them is as important as those same elements in sound or cinematography. To that end, I do the vast majority of color correction and grading in Davinci Resolve (the Hollywood standard), though occasionally make use of After Effects, Lumetri, and Final Cut X. I'd love to work with you on what fits your vision of your piece.
